Pleygo is Netflix for our favorite building brick

Good buddy, +Mark Heckler shared this one with me as he knows of my love for LEGO.

From Gizmag:
“Netflix users will find Pleygo’s system very familiar. More than merely shipping out chosen Lego sets, it also requires subscribers to rank several selections in a queue to determine which sets they receive. Pleygo offers three monthly subscription plans: a US$15 Fan one for small and medium-sized sets, a $25 Super Fan one that adds some large sets, and a $39 Mega Fan subscription that includes the biggest sets the company offers. Browsing the website, it looks like the sets range in size from the simple 31-piece Duplo Number Train to the massive 3,803-piece Death Star from Star Wars.”

Learn more at Pleygo.

I’m not too sure about this business model. Have to say, part of the fun for me is collecting those bricks to build my own bigger and better MOCs, so not sure I love this idea. Do believe I would rather take the money to OWN my own bricks. Sound off in the comments and let me know your thoughts. If nothing else, it’s a great conversation piece.

A great way to spend Christmas: LEGO Build Together

We are not entirely sure how we missed this, but LEGO released a great site along with a TV/online marketing campaign to promote LEGO building as a family event. Of course, most readers of BimP don’t need this nudge, however, this might be a great thing to share with families whose children are huge fans; however, their parents are currently in their AFOL “dark period.”

After a click below, you will find a video from their online campaign as well as a link to the Build Together site that includes some great ideas for building together along with some additional instructions for those spare parts that parents jamming into their feet in the middle of the night.

Day 23: 2012 LEGO Star Wars & City Advent Calendar: Frosty the snow droid

Merry Christmas Adam everyone! At least that’s what our family calls the day before Christmas Eve. Get it? Adam before Eve? I know...groaner; however, as we draw closer to Christmas, the models in the Star Wars and City advents are very festive and we must say, with regards to the Star Wars advent anyway, very unique. Check ’em out after the click o’ the brick below.

Classic Photos in LEGO

We just love when famous scenes from theatre, movies and books are recreated in our favorite building block, but Mike Stimpson takes this a bit further by recreating famous photographic moments.

You will find a couple of examples after the click below, but to truly enjoy his work, be sure to click the link to his site below the images.

Day 22: 2012 LEGO Star Wars & City Advent Calendar: Time for repairs

Only two days left until the our final Advent and the fact that Christmas is only three days away is beginning to sink in. So we aren‘t to surprised that today’s models are not the best of the bunch and that LEGO is saving the good ones for the next couple of days. After the click below, see the Star Wars micro and City transport we received today. Then see how we had a bit of fun by combining them with earlier Advent models.

Day 21: 2012 LEGO Star Wars & City Advent Calendar: Barriers

Long day for us so not much in the way of narrative today; however, our Star Wars model does seem to have a bit of a logic issue. See why after the click below.

LEGO® Holiday Story on the YouTube Channel

Let’s face it, we here at BimP are HUGE fans of LEGO and no Christmas is complete without a few bricks under the tree each year; however, this short video from the LEGO YouTube Channel is a great way to add some holiday spirit to any home before the big guy in the red suit makes his delivery. Enjoy!
