Pleygo is Netflix for our favorite building brick

Good buddy, +Mark Heckler shared this one with me as he knows of my love for LEGO.

“Netflix users will find Pleygo’s system very familiar. More than merely shipping out chosen Lego sets, it also requires subscribers to rank several selections in a queue to determine which sets they receive. Pleygo offers three monthly subscription plans: a US$15 Fan one for small and medium-sized sets, a $25 Super Fan one that adds some large sets, and a $39 Mega Fan subscription that includes the biggest sets the company offers. Browsing the website, it looks like the sets range in size from the simple 31-piece Duplo Number Train to the massive 3,803-piece Death Star from Star Wars.”

I’m not too sure about this business model. Have to say, part of the fun for me is collecting those bricks to build my own bigger and better MOCs, so not sure I love this idea. Do believe I would rather take the money to OWN my own bricks. Sound off in the comments and let me know your thoughts. If nothing else, it’s a great conversation piece.

A great way to spend Christmas: LEGO Build Together

We are not entirely sure how we missed this, but LEGO released a great site along with a TV/online marketing campaign to promote LEGO building as a family event. Of course, most readers of BimP don’t need this nudge, however, this might be a great thing to share with families whose children are huge fans; however, their parents are currently in their AFOL “dark period.”

After a click below, you will find a video from their online campaign as well as a link to the Build Together site that includes some great ideas for building together along with some additional instructions for those spare parts that parents jamming into their feet in the middle of the night.
